• Own features end-to-end, from design and coding through testing, deployment, and monitoring, with increasing independence;
• Design and build clean, well-documented microservices and APIs for other teams;
• Participate in code reviews as a reviewer and author, helping improve codebase quality;
• Identify edge cases, test coverage gaps, and technical debt, and help address them;
• Collaborate with team members in an agile environment and improve agile ceremonies;
• Support monitoring, alerting, and incident response for owned services;
• Help ramp up and support junior colleagues;
• Stay current with technology trends and apply best practices;
• Solve problems that impact users.

• 3–5 Years of software engineering experience with Kotlin or Java in production systems;
• Comfortable designing RESTful APIs and reasoning about event-driven architectures, transactions, and resiliency;
• Solid experience with Spring Boot or a similar JVM framework;
• Good understanding of relational databases and JPA/ORM patterns;
• Able to work independently through ambiguous requirements;
• Confident debugging unfamiliar parts of a large codebase;
• Strong testing habits across unit, integration, and system testing, with attention to edge cases and failure modes;
• Able to explain technical topics and decisions clearly to technical and non-technical audiences;
• Comfortable using AI coding assistants while remaining accountable for shipped quality and correctness;
• Comfortable contributing to on-call rotations and incident resolution;
• Nice to have: An advanced university degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or another quantitative discipline, knowledge of financial systems such as invoicing and payouts.
