• Design, develop, and maintain backend services and RESTful APIs using Java and Spring Boot;
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including front-end developers, product managers, and sysadmin, to deliver complete and efficient solutions;
• Optimize and troubleshoot performance bottlenecks to ensure high application performance and availability;
• Mentor junior developers and provide technical guidance to the team, ensuring best coding practices and standards;
• Perform code reviews to ensure code quality, security, and adherence to best practices;
• Integrate third-party services and external APIs while ensuring data security and integrity;
• Write unit and integration tests to ensure code stability and functionality;
• Maintain documentation for design, development, and deployment processes;
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies and incorporate them where applicable to improve product performance and maintainability;
• Monitor application performance and troubleshoot complex production issues to ensure uptime and reliability;
• Implement security best practices across the application, including authentication, authorization, and data protection.

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, CCE, or a related field;
• 3+ Years of professional experience in Java development, including at least 3 years with Spring Boot;
• Strong knowledge of Java 8/11+ features, including lambdas, streams, and functional programming;
• Experience building RESTful APIs and microservices with Spring Boot;
• Strong understanding of Spring components, including Spring MVC, Spring Security, and Spring Data;
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL, and ORM frameworks such as Hibernate/JPA;
• Hands-on experience with Redis caching strategies;
• Experience with message brokers such as RabbitMQ, Apache Kafka, or ActiveMQ;
• Deep understanding of prompt engineering techniques and context window management for backend-driven AI applications, including system prompts, dynamic context retrieval, or RAG workflows;
• Hands-on experience with Docker and Kubernetes;
• Familiarity with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins and GitLab, and version control with Git;
• Understanding of security practices including OAuth2, JWT, encryption, and secure API design;
• Proficiency in writing unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, or similar frameworks;
• Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and debugging skills;
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a team;
• Applicants must have legal authorization to work in Cyprus at the time of application; employer sponsorship is not available;
• Nice to have: Master’s degree.
