Fullstack Developer

Balance develops buyer-facing applications that improve checkout and payment experiences for businesses.

• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineers to translate business requirements into intuitive, high-quality web applications;
• Build and enhance user-facing features with a frontend-first mindset while contributing across the full stack when needed;
• Design, develop, and own features end-to-end, from technical discussions and implementation through deployment and production;
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, and design reviews to ensure high engineering standards and maintainable code;
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues across the application stack, delivering reliable and scalable solutions;
• Write automated tests and contribute to CI/CD pipelines to maintain code quality and enable rapid, reliable releases;
• Continuously improve development processes, tools, and engineering best practices to increase team productivity;
• Stay up to date with modern frontend technologies, frameworks, and industry trends, applying new ideas where they add value;
• Participate in team responsibilities, including production on-call rotations.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field;
• 5+ Years of professional software development experience, preferably in a fintech environment;
• Strong proficiency in React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS, with a passion for building high-quality, user-centric web applications;
• Solid experience with Node.js and RESTful APIs;
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and the ability to translate design concepts into intuitive, responsive user interfaces;
• Experience with frontend testing frameworks and tools;
• Experience working in Agile environments with CI/CD pipelines, Docker, and public cloud platforms;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
• Collaborative, proactive team player who can also work independently and take ownership of features;
• Willingness to work onsite 3 days per week in Lisbon, Portugal, following an initial fully remote onboarding period;
• Nice to have: NestJS, Jest, Playwright, AWS.

• This is a maternity leave replacement position for at least 6 months;
• Initial fully remote onboarding period is provided.
