full stack developer for restaurant POS

IDT Corporation is a global communications company that provides prepaid communication and payment services and operates as an international voice carrier. National Retail Solutions provides point-of-sale, payment, and digital solutions to independent retailers and is building a restaurant POS platform for restaurant operations.

• Own the architecture and delivery of new restaurant-facing services, from data model and API to merchant-facing screens;
• Own merchant-facing restaurant surfaces, including kitchen displays and staff workflows across the life of an order;
• Extend and harden existing production services without destabilizing them;
• Design for correctness under concurrency, including transactional integrity, isolation levels, idempotency, race conditions, retries, and tradeoffs;
• Build offline-capable clients with local state, synchronization on reconnect, and reconciliation of split-system activity;
• Implement queueing, asynchronous processing, background jobs, and event-driven flows;
• Deliver safe releases to tens of thousands of users;
• Work directly with product managers and designers to shape product scope;
• Provide technical direction and code reviews for other engineers;
• Use AI tooling across design, development, refactoring, self-review, and automated PR reviews;
• Investigate unfamiliar repositories and production failures to identify root causes;
• Build maintainable services with clear boundaries, readable code, effective tests, and observability;
• Design interfaces that support staff during busy restaurant operations;
• Follow problems through to their actual resolution and consider merchant impact.

• 8+ Years of experience building full-stack products, including time as the senior person on the work;
• Deep Node.js and TypeScript experience across the full stack, with production services personally designed and supported;
• Deep understanding of REST API design and microservices;
• Strong relational database skills with Postgres or MySQL, including schema design, indexing, query tuning, and transactions under load;
• Experience with Redis or MongoDB, caching, and invalidation;
• Experience with queues and streaming, including Kinesis, Kafka, RabbitMQ, SQS, BullMQ, or similar, and their failure modes;
• Front-end experience with Vue, including component architecture, state management, and progressive web apps;
• Experience building real-time interfaces with WebSockets, ideally socket.io;
• Excellent debugging skills and the ability to reason from unfamiliar production failures to root cause;
• Experience working with PHP codebases;
• Experience deploying horizontally scalable services that tolerate failed instances and slow dependencies and automatically add or shed capacity;
• Comfortable with Linux, Git, and CI/CD workflows;
• Excellent written and spoken English.
