full-stack developer for energy management

VREY is building an EnergyOS for multi-family buildings. Its certified meter operation and proprietary software enable property owners to sell self-generated solar power directly to tenants while supporting smart metering, energy management, storage, heat pumps, and flexibility.

• Build features across the full stack, from database to UI;
• Work directly with product management, design, and users to refine product details;
• Improve frontend quality through consistent design language, readable layouts, and scalable UI patterns;
• Import and process smart meter measurement data;
• Automate billing processes;
• Participate in designing and maintaining server infrastructure;
• Instrument, optimize, and monitor critical processes for speed, reliability, and dependability at scale;
• Research, evaluate, and design technical solutions to new problems with the team;
• Improve engineering practices and team efficiency;
• Improve the development environment and engineering processes, including tools, workflows, and AI-powered development practices.

• 2+ Years of professional experience building full-stack web applications;
• Strong frontend development skills with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript fundamentals;
• Familiarity with Hotwire, Turbo, Stimulus, and React or Vue;
• Good understanding of UI and UX patterns and experience with design systems;
• Ability to design and optimize relational database schemas;
• Experience with PostgreSQL;
• Experience working with APIs and integrating third-party services;
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure such as Heroku or AWS;
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and basic monitoring;
• Experience working with AI and efficient agentic setups;
• Ownership of features and components with a proactive approach to product development;
• Based in Berlin or willing to relocate;
• Willingness to learn energy industry terms in English and German;
• Comfortable working with parts of the company operating mostly in German;
• English is the team language;
• Nice to have: Ruby on Rails experience.
