frontend developer for a global film streaming platform

MUBI is a global streaming service, production company and film distributor dedicated to elevating great cinema. It creates, curates, acquires and champions visionary films, bringing them to audiences around the world. Its web platform combines a streaming player, a curated catalogue and an editorial publication.

• Build and implement features across the web platform, from discovery and catalogue to the player and editorial pages, using React, TypeScript and Next.js; own them end to end, including technical scoping, implementation, automated testing, deployment and observability
• Work on media player integrations, adaptive streaming experiences, dynamic video previews and high-framerate media components
• Analyze and continuously optimize client-side bundle size, Core Web Vitals, server-side rendering performance and edge caching strategies
• Set team standards for code quality, testing and review, and help other engineers meet them
• Experiment with coding agents, share effective prompts and skills, and pursue measurable gains

• 8+ Years of frontend experience building and operating complex, consumer-facing web applications at scale using React, Next.js/SSR and TypeScript
• Expert knowledge of the DOM, browser rendering optimization, web performance profiling tools, state management strategies, and HTTP and media protocol fundamentals
• Understanding of media delivery and playback in modern web browsers; familiarity with HLS, DASH, Widevine, FairPlay and CORS
• Commitment to maintainable code, test-driven development (Jest, React Testing Library, Cypress/Playwright) and strong CI/CD practices
• Clear, articulate technical communication in an agile, cross-functional engineering organization
• Independent mindset and genuine curiosity about how the product is used; able to generate questions without waiting for a brief
