The Modelling and Simulation Department is responsible for delivering simulator products, software and hybrid benches to both internal and external customers. These simulators support the development, validation, and operational activities of space business assets, primarily satellites. The department is the reference in simulation for the Space business within Airbus, serving all missions: Earth Observation, Space Exploration & Science, Telecommunications… and working across all home countries.
Each numerical simulator is composed of the following elements:
Core components:
The Simulation Core Product: provides an engine and a framework for the simulation.
Onboard Computer Model: virtualized, functional or emulated model capable of running the real flight software.
Generic components & models: communication‑bus models and common satellite equipment (battery, solar panels, …).
Space Dynamics & Environment model
Project specific:
Specific satellite-equipment models
Satellite Payload model: responder, functional or emulated model (capable of running the real payload software).
All these elements are integrated according to the satellite architecture and engineering database. The simulators are then encapsulated into a hardware bench, secured virtual machine or virtual container before delivery.
Developing and maintaining software such as the simulation core product, the emulators or satellite-equipment models
Integrating, validating and deploying these systems: software integration, configuration and validation. Potentially, system integration, deployment and simulator protection
Supporting users and customers
Contributing to roadmaps and proposals.
