engineering manager for marketplace platforms

OLX operates marketplace ecosystems that help people buy and sell cars, find homes and jobs, and trade secondhand goods. Its platforms serve over 300 million people each month and help entrepreneurs and businesses find customers.

• Lead and manage a team of engineers, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and career development support
• Collaborate with data science, data engineering, and product managers to define project goals, scope, and deliverables
• Drive end-to-end development from design through implementation and deployment, ensuring high-quality, scalable solutions with controlled costs
• Identify and prioritize technical initiatives based on ROI, scalability, and performance requirements
• Implement modern software development practices, including agile methodologies, continuous integration, and deployment
• Gather and analyze stakeholder requirements to ensure the platform meets customer needs and provides a strong user experience
• Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that promotes knowledge sharing, innovation, and continuous improvement
• Capture requirements, shape project scope, lead technical initiatives, and partner across teams to solve technical problems and support adoption and implementation of platform solutions
• Shape technical direction and guide major projects addressing platform challenges

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• At least 3 years of people management experience focused on developing and growing people
• At least 5 years of professional software development experience
• Experience designing and developing large-scale, high-traffic systems
• Previous experience leading an engineering team in a Platform environment
• Familiarity with microservices architecture, container orchestration, Docker, Kubernetes, and streaming architectures
• Strong knowledge of data structures and software design patterns
• Experience with modern software development practices, including agile methodologies, continuous integration, and deployment
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work effectively in a team
• Proficient in English, with strong verbal and written communication skills
• Must already reside in Poland
