• Design and build foundational curated data products and reusable data models for analytics and data practitioners across Zalando;
• Develop infrastructure and tooling that enable teams to query data, develop, and deploy pipelines reliably and automatically;
• Build and maintain observability, health checks, and automated reliability tooling for core data systems;
• Establish frameworks and engineering best practices for technical rigor, modular architecture, and faster access to insights;
• Collaborate with infrastructure, data, and security teams to ensure data systems are secure, compliant, and production-grade by default.

• Have 3+ years of experience in Data Engineering with a focus on Python and Apache Spark;
• Demonstrate expert-level skills in writing, profiling, and optimizing complex SQL queries;
• Have a strong foundation in data modeling and designing scalable, resilient end-to-end data architectures;
• Have hands-on experience architecting data assets on AWS using Databricks, including Delta Lake, Unity Catalog, and cost-optimization strategies;
• Have a proven track record of deploying production-grade systems using Apache Airflow and automated CI/CD pipelines;
• Demonstrate strong collaboration and communication skills;
• Nice to have: A practical interest in Agentic Data Engineering and using AI tools or agents to automate and accelerate the software development lifecycle of data pipelines.
