data engineer for banking platforms

Rho is a modern banking platform built for startups, offering connected business banking services such as accounts, cards, expense management, bill payment, and bookkeeping support.

• Design, build, and own reliable, scalable, well-documented data products, pipelines, and datasets;
• Apply software engineering practices including clean code, testing, version control, and CI/CD to data products and ML systems;
• Build reusable ML-driven data products, including OCR, transaction coding suggestions, and RAG/agentic tools;
• Define and uphold data product quality through checks, monitoring, alerts, and SLAs;
• Partner with data product stakeholders to understand needs, gather feedback, and iterate;
• Collaborate with business intelligence and analytics teams to turn business needs into discoverable, understandable, and self-service data products;
• Lead initiatives to expand Rho's data product catalog and improve the supporting platform.

• 5+ Years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or DevOps;
• Proficiency with workflow orchestrators such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect;
• Experience with major data platforms including Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or in-house HDFS-based solutions;
• Experience building data infrastructure with GCP, AWS, or comparable cloud providers;
• Experience managing and deploying services on Kubernetes;
• Practical experience with Terraform or Pulumi;
• Advanced Python and Go programming skills with strong SQL skills; Java experience is also considered;
• Experience building, owning, and iterating on data products or pipelines based on consumer feedback;
• Experience designing systems for reuse across multiple teams;
• Good communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach;
• Nice to have: building a data platform or data product suite from the ground up, integrating or deploying ML models in production, RAG systems, vector databases, MLflow, agents, data modeling and Data Mesh/Kimball/Inmon/Data Vault approaches, streaming data systems, Prometheus or other time-series monitoring databases, BI tools such as Omni or Power BI.
