Backend Software Engineer for AI translation

Wolt creates technology for local neighborhoods, evolving from restaurant delivery into delivery of a wide range of goods. Its MIRA team builds AI-powered customer support systems for Wolt, DoorDash, and Deliveroo, including a real-time translation engine supporting conversations across more than 20 languages.

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services for real-time, customer-facing systems
• Develop and evolve AI-powered translation capabilities using LLMs in production
• Build tooling and infrastructure to evaluate models for quality, latency, and cost
• Collaborate with product, applied science, frontend, and platform teams to turn complex support problems into robust user-facing systems
• Take ownership of technical decisions and help shape system architecture and future direction
• Improve the performance, reliability, and operational readiness of services handling production traffic
• Explore better ways of working, including using AI tools to improve development workflows

• Strong backend development skills in Python or Go
• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, container orchestration with Kubernetes or Docker, observability tools such as DataDog, and SQL and NoSQL databases
• Pragmatic problem-solving skills, a growth mindset, willingness to learn, and comfort working with real-world data and its nuances
• Solid experience designing, building, and integrating quality software and microservices at scale in a complex domain
• Actively use modern AI tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, or similar to improve productivity, code quality, and daily development workflows
