Telnyx builds global connectivity infrastructure, including a private multi-cloud IP network and hyperlocal edge technology delivered through APIs. The company develops connectivity solutions that connect people, devices, and applications, including real-time communications and Voice SDK products.

• Design, build, maintain, and operate backend services supporting WebRTC and Voice SDK products;
• Take ownership of Voice SDK proxy services, authentication and token services, push notification services, RTC DNS, and diagnostic logging;
• Improve the reliability, scalability, and maintainability of customer-facing backend services;
• Improve connection setup, authentication flows, routing, and service behavior across real-time communication workloads;
• Build and improve observability through logs, metrics, dashboards, alerts, and operational tooling;
• Improve visibility into push notification delivery and simplify monitoring and troubleshooting of APNs and FCM integrations;
• Diagnose production issues across backend services, networking layers, and client connectivity;
• Improve deployment processes, rollout safety, and production readiness for distributed services;
• Turn recurring customer and operational issues into durable engineering improvements;
• Collaborate with mobile, JavaScript, infrastructure, and other engineering teams to improve end-to-end reliability;
• Help shape the architecture and technical direction of backend systems supporting WebRTC products.

• Strong professional experience building and operating backend systems in production;
• Strong experience with distributed systems and service-oriented architectures;
• Experience with Elixir or Erlang, or strong backend engineering experience with the ability and willingness to ramp up quickly in Elixir;
• Experience building or operating real-time, low-latency, or connection-oriented systems;
• Strong understanding of authentication, service communication, session lifecycle, reliability, and failure recovery;
• Experience owning services throughout their lifecycle, including design, development, deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and scaling;
• Experience with Kubernetes, containers, CI/CD, and modern production infrastructure;
• Strong observability mindset, including logging, metrics, dashboards, alerting, and root-cause analysis;
• Good understanding of networking fundamentals and ability to troubleshoot issues across software, networking, and infrastructure boundaries;
• Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with engineers across different parts of the stack;
• Nice to have: WebRTC, VoIP, voice/video communications, other real-time communication systems, WebSockets or other persistent connection technologies, push notification infrastructure such as APNs or FCM, DNS, edge routing, service discovery, globally distributed systems, internal diagnostic or observability tools, backend services supporting mobile or JavaScript SDKs.
