It integrates directly with insurers' systems and helps partner lawyers handle cases efficiently through an AI-powered technology platform. • Design and own scalable backend services from first commit to production, including APIs, data models, versioning, SLOs, and on-call;
• Build and evolve high-performance, secure infrastructure that handles real-world production load;
• Integrate LLM-powered capabilities into product flows, including suggestion APIs, RAG-backed endpoints, and agent tool calls;
• Collaborate with frontend, product, and AI teams to design durable APIs;
• Make informed decisions on schema migrations, breaking changes, and dependency upgrades;
• Improve quality through automated unit, integration, and end-to-end testing;
• Drive meaningful architectural improvements;
• Lead incident investigations for owned services, write postmortems, and escalate only after investigating independently.

• 6+ Years of backend engineering experience, including 2+ years at senior level;
• Strong proficiency in Kotlin or Java and JVM idioms;
• Experience with relational databases such as MySQL;
• Production experience with at least one public cloud, preferably AWS;
• Strong understanding of distributed systems, including idempotency, retries, eventual consistency, and observability;
• Business-fluent English;
• German at B1 level or a clear commitment to reach B1 within 12 months;
• Nice to have: Micronaut, Kubernetes, AWS Bedrock, LiteLLM, the official Claude Agent SDK, MCP-based architecture, experience with regulated data environments such as GDPR, BaFin, and 203 StGB.
