Backend engineer in fintech

• Design and build backend services and APIs that power our AI agent platform
• Build event-driven, asynchronous systems that are resilient and observable, including background workers, message queues and scheduled jobs
• Develop data and document pipelines that ingest, process and enrich complex financial data
• Integrate large language models and third-party services into production workflows, with care for reliability, latency and cost
• Model, optimise and evolve our data layer as the product grows
• Own deployments, CI/CD pipelines and containerised workloads running on Kubernetes in the cloud
• Improve monitoring, logging, alerting and incident response across the platform
• Help maintain the security, compliance and data-protection standards our clients rely on
• Work closely with senior engineers and the founding team to shape technical direction

• 4+ years of professional backend engineering experience
• Strong Python skills, including modern async frameworks and patterns
• Solid experience designing and building REST APIs
• Experience with NoSQL or document databases, including data modelling, indexing and query performance
• Hands-on experience with message-driven architectures, such as queues, retries, idempotency and background processing
• Experience with caching and in-memory data stores
• Comfort with Docker and Kubernetes, and with deploying and debugging services in a cloud environment
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
• A habit of writing well-tested, maintainable code, and an understanding of observability in production
• Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgement, and a willingness to own problems end to end
• Будет плюсом: Experience with GitOps workflows, Helm, or infrastructure as code; Experience with a major cloud provider (Azure particularly welcome); Experience building with LLM APIs, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), or agentic workflows; Document processing experience (PDF/Office parsing, OCR, extraction); Familiarity with SSO, authentication and secrets management; Background in a regulated or fintech environment, including audit trails, data classification, and UK/EU data residency; Familiarity with security tooling in CI, including SAST, dependency scanning and image scanning; Familiarity with agentic coding and working, such as Cursor, Antigravity or Claude; Interest in artificial intelligence, the available models, and the nuances between them
