backend developer in energy billing

Clera is an energy technology company building an operating system for the next generation of European energy. Its platform combines modular billing, energy-market communication protocols, and an accounting ledger in a headless, API-first layer for hardware companies and energy providers.

• Architect clean, maintainable solutions for complex infrastructure problems in energy billing and market communication;
• Contribute to scalable and reliable backend services supporting dynamic pricing, billing flows, and ledger operations at volume;
• Move quickly, ship meaningful work, and iterate with purpose;
• Uphold and improve engineering standards through code review, documentation, and thoughtful system design.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience;
• 3–10+ Years of backend engineering experience;
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js with a strong grasp of asynchronous programming;
• Hands-on experience with PostgreSQL and an ORM;
• Experience with Next.js, including API routes or server components used for backend services;
• Familiarity with distributed systems concepts and designing scalable, maintainable core services;
• Experience integrating Stripe payments and related billing flows;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills in English;
• Ownership mindset and ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment;
• Nice to have: Drizzle ORM, workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal, lightweight HTTP frameworks such as Hono, background in energy, utilities, fintech, or similarly regulated and complex domains.
