backend developer for video streaming

Seera is an Arabic-language microdrama streaming platform for the MENA market. It produces and distributes short-form vertical series and monetizes through in-app coins and subscriptions.

• Design, build, and maintain backend APIs for content catalog, playback, accounts, entitlements, coin wallets, and subscriptions;
• Own the AWS environment end to end, including architecture, IaC, IAM, networking, cost management, observability, and CI/CD;
• Build and operate the video pipeline covering ingest, transcoding, HLS/DASH packaging, DRM, and CDN delivery for mobile networks across MENA;
• Integrate third-party payment, carrier billing, ad mediation, and analytics services reliably and securely;
• Establish monitoring, alerting, and on-call practices for a consumer streaming product;
• Raise engineering standards through technical design documents, code reviews, and mentoring across a distributed team.

• 5–8 Years of experience building production backend systems;
• Experience building consumer products at meaningful scale;
• Deep hands-on AWS experience with ECS/EKS or Lambda, RDS/DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, and MediaConvert;
• Strong judgment in API design, authentication, data modeling, caching, and performance under load;
• Comfortable working autonomously in a remote, async-first team across multiple time zones;
• Professional working proficiency in English;
• Nice to have: Experience with video systems, transcoding, adaptive bitrate streaming, CDN configuration, or DRM; payments or subscription billing systems; prior startup or 0→1 experience; Arabic.
