Notabene builds tools that help crypto organizations reduce transaction risk and make crypto transfers safe. Its platform serves financial institutions, fintechs, exchanges, and other customers, and supports the movement of data between institutions worldwide.

• Design and build core parts of the transaction platform
• Build for correctness under failure, with the isolation and auditability required by a regulated product
• Scale the platform as transaction volume and the number of institutions per node grow, keeping latency predictable and the database healthy
• Write design documents and provide useful reviews of designs and code
• Build with AI agents and improve the specifications, context, and review practices that make agent-written code safe to ship in a regulated product
• Work with product, compliance, and customer-facing teams to turn regulatory and customer needs into working software
• Own production delivery, including tracing, alerts, and incident follow-ups
• Mentor engineers on the team
• Participate in an on-call rotation

• Deep systems design experience, including designing and owning distributed systems where correctness matters more than features
• Strong knowledge of asynchronous processing and failure scenarios
• Strong Go skills, or deep production experience in another statically typed backend language (Java, Kotlin, Rust, or C#) and willingness to ship Go within the first weeks
• In-depth PostgreSQL knowledge, including schema design, query plans, locking and isolation levels, live-system migrations, and multi-tenant data
• End-to-end cloud ownership and working knowledge of AWS or GCP, including IAM, networking, managed databases, queues, and storage
• Ability to read and modify Terraform and debug production using traces and logs
• Daily use of coding agents such as Claude Code or Cursor, with the ability to write specifications and context, break down work, review output rigorously, and identify failure modes
• A track record of delivering large, technically challenging projects end to end and helping engineers improve; typically 8+ years building backend systems
• Clear, concise writing for decisions made in documents and asynchronous threads
• Security fundamentals for sensitive data, including encryption in transit and at rest, key handling, personal data minimization, and least-privilege access
