backend developer for banking products

• Design and build Monzo’s in-house banking platform;
• Build products for customers, underlying infrastructure, security, payments, finance, customer operations, financial crime, and data;
• Write application code in Go;
• Store persistent data using Cassandra;
• Build asynchronous message queues with Kafka;
• Schedule and run services with Kubernetes and Docker;
• Use Envoy Proxy for RPC;
• Work with AWS production infrastructure and GCP data infrastructure;
• Develop public web applications and internal tools with React;
• Connect physical datacenters to third parties;
• Collaborate across disciplines to solve complex company-wide challenges;
• Make data-informed decisions focused on customer outcomes;
• Work with ambiguity in a collaborative team;
• Design resilient software and distributed systems.

• Strong experience working on the backend of a technology product;
• Product mindset and focus on customer outcomes;
• Comfort working in a team that deals with ambiguity;
• Interest in distributed systems and resilient software;
• Experience with strongly typed languages such as Go, Java, C, or Scala;
• Nice to have: Prior knowledge of Go, Cassandra, Kafka, Kubernetes, Docker, Envoy Proxy, AWS, GCP, and React.
