backend developer for AI-spec-driven development

JetBrains develops developer tools that automate routine checks and corrections, helping developers work faster and create software more effectively. ThinkRail is an open-source alpha project within JetBrains' Innovation Hub that develops a declarative programming language and infrastructure for AI-spec-driven development.

• Build and evolve ThinkRail’s developer tooling, including VS Code and IntelliJ IDEA plugins;
• Develop the language server, including analysis, completion, diagnostics, and verification;
• Improve the evaluator that turns specs into code and detects spec-code drift;
• Integrate ThinkRail with AI agent frameworks and protocols such as Koog, LangGraph, Spring AI, MCP, and ACP;
• Work closely with the founder and help shape technical decisions as the product evolves.

• Senior backend or full-stack engineering experience;
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex problems;
• Strong engineering fundamentals;
• Experience working with TypeScript or comparable language background;
• Comfort working in a small, fast-moving team with a high degree of autonomy;
• Nice to have: experience with developer tools, DSLs, static analysis, LSP, editor plugins, or AI agents.

• Remote work is available from Germany;
• Office locations are available in Belgrade, Berlin, Limassol, Munich, Paphos, Prague, Warsaw, and Yerevan;
