Backend Developer

Insify builds GRID, a configurable insurance platform that handles carrier integrations, product configuration, policy administration, and regulatory complexity across multiple countries. The company aims to become the European leader in AI-powered SME insurance.

• Build and extend the GRID platform, including policy issuance, mid-term adjustments, renewals, carrier integrations, and the back-office portal used by Operations;
• Design product configuration systems that enable onboarding new insurance products and carriers without rewriting core logic, and own the architecture behind this capability;
• Own the policy administration layer and keep Insify’s domain model clean across underlying systems;
• Build renewal and migration tooling at scale, including automated workflows, portfolio migrations, and operational tooling for safe and auditable policy moves;
• Implement underwriting and product configuration logic, including raters, field mappings, underwriting rules, product wordings, and the SPC graph engine;
• Partner with Operations, Product, and Insurance to translate carrier specifications and regulatory requirements into clean, testable platform capabilities;
• Set the engineering bar for the GRID domain across correctness, configurability, observability, and backward compatibility;
• Own incidents and operational health of the GRID platform.

• 3+ Years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with TypeScript and AWS, including Lambda, DynamoDB, and event-driven architectures;
• Strong abstraction and platform design skills, including the ability to define durable data models and API contracts;
• Solid fundamentals in distributed systems, event-driven architecture, and API design;
• Experience with multi-tenancy, configuration-driven systems, and regulated multi-jurisdiction environments;
• Ownership mindset with responsibility for platform stability and extensibility;
• Clear communication skills for working with Operations and Insurance on carrier contracts and system design;
• Active use of AI for coding, debugging, and tooling;
• Nice to have: experience building insurance, fintech, or SaaS platforms with multi-tenant product configuration, familiarity with policy administration systems or insurance product configuration, experience launching products in new markets or countries with regulatory and localisation complexity, experience building internal back-office platforms for operational teams, strong observability skills with Sentry or Datadog, experience operating production systems at scale.
