• Lead designers and own the quality of shipped work and the systems that enable the discipline to scale
• Run design critiques and research reviews, set standards for prototyping and interaction quality, and ensure accessibility through WCAG conformance and assistive-technology testing
• Coach the team to conduct documentary-style timeline interviews and turn job stories into backlog items engineering can use
• Define AI interaction patterns, principles, and guardrails for setting expectations, communicating uncertainty, handling errors and recovery, keeping humans meaningfully involved, and making automated behaviour explainable and reversible
• Build an AI pattern library and evaluation approach, and incorporate AI into research synthesis, early exploration, and design operations while keeping human judgement central
• Establish handoff standards and technical documentation, discuss job stories with Engineering, and make trade-offs between feasibility, business goals, and user needs explicit
• Mature research practices by defining standards, methods, and tooling, and ensuring rigour in sampling, bias, and communicating methodological limitations
• Establish Design Operations and Research Operations, including tooling, templates, participant recruitment, and scalable processes
• Set the strategic direction for the design system with Engineering
• Hire, onboard, manage performance, and support team growth
• Steward and extend the UX career framework across individual-contributor and people-leadership tracks
• Design and facilitate discovery workshops, co-design and alignment sessions, prioritisation exercises, and participatory customer sessions
• Personally run high-stakes sessions with enterprise accounts, executive sponsors, and advisory boards

• Minimum 5 years of substantial UX experience, with depth in both user research and product design
• At least 5 years managing designers and/or researchers directly, with examples of people you have grown
• Hands-on Jobs to be Done experience, including running switch interviews, distinguishing JTBD interviews from usability tests, and translating findings into job stories that changed what a team built
• Understand functional, emotional, and social jobs, and when JTBD is not the right lens
• Hands-on experience designing or leading design for AI- or ML-powered features, with a clear point of view on trustworthy experiences
• Deep knowledge of research methodology, including unbiased interviewing, surveys, concept and usability testing, ethnographic work, and mixed-method study design
• Strong design craft in information architecture, interaction design, and prototyping, with the ability to explain solutions to engineers and executives
• Experience defining outcome-based UX metrics and using them to influence a roadmap
• Fluency in design and engineering handoffs in an Agile environment
• Comfortable investigating ambiguous, loosely defined problems spanning multiple teams
• Strong workshop design and facilitation skills, including handling conflicting agendas and senior stakeholders who arrive with a decided solution
• Experience working directly with high-profile or strategic customers and turning sessions into actionable research and stronger customer relationships
