Pencil develops a SaaS advertising technology product powered by Generative AI to improve content creation while supporting creative professionals. Its platform helps brands, small businesses, and individuals create advertising content more efficiently.

• Own a core area of the Pencil editing platform from problem framing and concept exploration to final UI and shipped product;
• Partner with Product and Engineering to define and rapidly ship features that increase content generations and exports;
• Design production-ready interfaces for editing tools focused on speed and usability;
• Expand creation tools across ads, images, video, email, display, and other formats;
• Design and improve AI-powered editing workflows that augment users’ creative output;
• Work with engineers during implementation, review builds, and iterate until the quality bar is met;
• Conduct user research to identify problems, validate solutions, and improve usability and clarity;
• Use and contribute to the design system, evolving patterns, components, and foundations;
• Own the design space end-to-end, from concept to shipped feature.

• 5+ Years of experience designing digital products in SaaS or complex workflow-driven editing and creation tools;
• Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end product thinking, with a focus on speed, creation, and impact on output;
• Builder mindset focused on creating tools that help users produce content faster;
• Strong interaction and visual design skills;
• Ability to work autonomously with strong product intuition;
• High iteration tolerance and comfort with rapidly testing, tweaking, and evolving features based on usage;
• Strong experience working closely with engineers and keeping up with a large, fast-moving engineering team;
• Highly proficient in Figma;
• Curiosity about AI and comfort designing for AI-powered systems;
• Ability to thrive in execution-heavy environments with short cycles from concept to shipped feature;
• Workflow thinking focused on optimizing the path from idea to finished asset;
• Nice to have: Experience defining new interaction paradigms for AI-powered creation tools.
