At Parallel, we build AI agents that help healthcare organizations automate their administrative processes and unlock additional revenue, starting with medical coding.
Today, up to 25% of healthcare spending is lost to manual, repetitive administrative tasks. Legacy software hasn't helped: it has made work slower, more complex and more frustrating for care teams.
We believe AI agents can change this. Our technology combines large language models with system-level automation to do real work inside existing hospital tools. No integration, no disruption.
Our first agent automates coding and frees up time for medical teams to focus on patients.
We launched in 2024 and already have 800+ customers and a team of 30+ people. We are backed by top-tier investors (Index Ventures, Y Combinator, Hexa, Frst, Kima Ventures, Better Angle and the CEO of Mistral AI), and this is just the beginning.
The future of healthcare isn't just digital, it's automated. Come help us build it!
Context
We're looking for a Product Designer to join our first Designer on Parallel's design: the app used every day by hospital coding teams, as well as the brand. You'll work daily with Product Managers, Engineers and the Ops team.
You'll work on complex, domain-specific topics, with demanding users.
Missions
- Shape the product vision: You'll help define where Parallel's product goes next. You turn what you learn from coding teams, usage data and the field into a clear point of view, and you defend it.
- Own your projects end to end: From spotting the problem to seeing it used in production: you frame the need, prioritize, make the trade-offs, design and follow through until it ships, you don't just execute.
- Build trust in AI: Our agents take on real work for medical coders. Your job is to design experiences that make them confident in what the AI does: they understand its output, stay in control, and feel assisted, never replaced.
- Work hand in hand with engineering: You collaborate daily with engineers and the AI team, understand technical constraints, prototype in code with tools like Claude or Cursor, and push to production yourself when it's the fastest way.
- Go deep into a demanding domain: Medical coding is complex and our users are experts with high expectations. You spend time with them to understand their real constraints: they're overworked and short on time, so using Parallel should be the part of their job they love.
- Keep the bar high on craft and brand: You co-own the design system and the app's visual standards, and you shape how Parallel comes across as a brand. You don't stop at the Figma file: you're accountable for how the app looks in production.
- Act on your ideas: Spotted something worth building? You have the autonomy to make it happen!
