Solance is building a tech-enabled payments company. We are here for businesses that operate across multiple entities, jurisdictions and currencies, and for sectors that traditional banks generally overlook. Think family offices, internationally operating companies, corporate service providers and the clients they serve. We are going through the authorisation process with the Central Bank of Ireland, one of the most reputable banking jurisdictions in Europe, and we are only getting started.
Why this role exists
Most finance people inherit someone else’s mess: the spreadsheet nobody understands, the close that takes two weeks because that is just how it has always been done. You will inherit none of that. We have built a strong business and a strong team ahead of launch, and the finance function is a blank page waiting for the right person to own it. That person builds the month-end close and the reporting from scratch, the way it should be done, and then automates it so it scales as fast as we do.
Working alongside the CFO, you own the financial reporting of the business end to end. In practice:
Reporting and close
- Run the month-end close: journals, accruals, prepayments, balance sheet reconciliations and management accounts.
- Prepare the group consolidation.
- Prepare KPI reporting and the finance sections of the board packs and present the results to senior management.
- Prepare the statutory financial statements and act as the day-to-day contact for our external auditors.
Regulatory and safeguarding
- Prepare and monitor regulatory returns and capital adequacy reporting under the Central Bank of Ireland's EMI framework.
- Support the daily safeguarding reconciliation and the quarterly safeguarding review.
Treasury and tax
- Monitor cash positions and FX exposure across multiple currencies, in line with our operational payment flows.
- Prepare and submit VAT and other tax returns.
Planning and improvement
- Support on the annual budget process and reporting against rolling forecasts.
- Find cost efficiencies and drive automation across reporting and finance operations, working closely with our operations and technology teams.
What it is actually like
We want to be straight with you. We are an early-stage business, still going through authorisation and heading into launch. Priorities shift, some weeks are busier than others, and you will often be the person working out how something should be done before you do it. If that sounds uncomfortable, this is probably not the right move. If it sounds like the fastest way you will learn, keep reading.
