Finance manager in infrastructure

I am currently working with a private-equity-financed infrastructure company that is continuing to expand its presence across Europe and is seeking a Finance Manager (m/f/d) to take responsibility for the German finance function. In this role, you will report directly to the Group Head of Reporting and also act as the central Finance Business Partner for the local teams.

• Monitor and report capital expenditure (CAPEX) for German projects, from the development phase through to construction. This includes budget-versus-actual comparisons, commitments, and ongoing cost and completion forecasts.
• Review project contracts, milestone payments, and supplier invoices in close collaboration with the project and procurement teams.
• Ensure the correct accounting of eligible project costs as capital assets until they are transferred to fixed assets when projects are commissioned.
• Independently manage the month-end close for the German entities and prepare and submit IFRS reporting to the UK headquarters.
• Prepare annual financial statements in accordance with HGB and coordinate and support local auditors and tax advisers.
• Take responsibility for liquidity planning and cash flow forecasts, taking into account project-related payments and financing drawdowns.
• Manage input VAT recovery related to CAPEX investments and work with external advisers on German tax law and transfer pricing matters.
• Ensure effective internal controls and approval processes, particularly for investments and high-value expenditure.
• Act as Finance Business Partner for the German team and support cross-functional commercial and operational business areas.

• Successfully completed an accounting qualification, such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or an equivalent German qualification such as tax adviser or certified accountant.
• Professional experience in renewable energy, infrastructure, or other project-oriented businesses with high capital expenditure (CAPEX).
• Sound knowledge of both German accounting standards (HGB) and international financial reporting standards (IFRS), ideally gained at a German subsidiary of an international group.
• Business-fluent German and English.
