Finance manager

A high-growth, Private Equity-backed business seeking an experienced Finance Manager to join its finance function on an initial five-month fixed-term basis.

• Take ownership of balance sheet governance, conducting comprehensive reviews and clean-ups across all balance sheet accounts, including reconciliations prepared by the offshore finance team.
• Ensure balance sheet accounts are accurate, fully reconciled and free from aged or unexplained items ahead of year-end close.
• Lead the day-to-day coordination and management of internal and external audit queries, maintaining request trackers and overseeing the preparation of supporting documentation and audit samples.
• Act as a key point of contact for audit deliverables, ensuring timely responses, accurate supporting information and a smooth audit sign-off process.
• Conduct detailed analysis and resolution of high-priority P&L-impacting items, including subcontractor costs, Goods Received Not Invoiced (GRNI), holiday pay provisions and true-ups, bad debt and accrued income recovery.
• Provide robust business-as-usual finance support across month-end close, routine reconciliations and ad-hoc financial reporting.
• Work closely with the Financial Controller, taking ownership of routine operational activities and supporting wider ad-hoc financial control requirements.
• Support the UK finance leadership team in maintaining effective financial controls and improving the performance and stability of the wider finance function.
• Identify opportunities to streamline existing workflows, improve reporting processes and introduce automation where capacity allows.
• Ensure financial information is accurate, reliable and delivered within required reporting deadlines.

• Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent), with demonstrable post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience operating within a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Senior Finance Manager capacity.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, with extensive experience in balance sheet reconciliations, financial control and year-end preparation.
• Demonstrable experience coordinating and managing internal and external audit processes.
• Strong understanding of P&L analysis and the ability to investigate and resolve complex financial issues.
• Experience with subcontractor cost reviews, GRNI clearance, holiday pay provisions, accrued income and bad debt.
• Experience operating within a complex, fast-paced finance environment, ideally within a large or high-growth organisation.
• Strong ERP systems experience, with SAP preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills and the ability to analyse large volumes of financial data.
• A proactive, hands-on approach, with the ability to take ownership of deliverables and work independently.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the confidence to work closely with senior finance leadership.

• 5-Month Fixed-Term Contract (FTC)
• UK – Remote
• £84,000 per annum (pro-rata, £35,000 for the FTC period)
