DevOps engineer cloud infrastructure

More of the production environments we look after now run in German data centers, so we are adding a Junior DevOps Engineer who works on German time. The rest of the team is in Seattle, nine hours behind, and overlaps with your late afternoon. The job is full-time and remote from anywhere in Germany. The Ninth Seat is a platform engineering firm in Seattle. We build and repair the cloud environments, monitoring and release pipelines that business applications run on, and agree the systems and checks for each assignment in writing.

• Write and review Terraform for cloud networks, compute and managed databases
• Keep CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions or GitLab CI building, testing and deploying on every merge
• Package services as Docker images and roll them out to Kubernetes with Helm
• Add logs, metrics and alerts to services so a slow request can be traced
• Bring changes made by hand in a cloud console back into code
• Write the operating instructions that go with each change

• A degree in computer science or completed IT training, or a year of work with Linux servers
• Git: branches, merge requests and resolving conflicts
• Bash or Python scripts for routine tasks
• At least one project where you built and ran a container with Docker
