backend developer in fraud prevention

Perplexity's fraud prevention team protects its products, users, and infrastructure from fraud and abuse throughout the user lifecycle. It builds and operates a real-time decisioning platform, data pipelines, integrations, and internal investigation and response tools.

• Design, build, and operate high-throughput, low-latency backend services for fraud detection and prevention
• Build data pipelines and real-time feature computation for detections and ML models
• Collect and process trust signals
• Integrate fraud decisions into product, authentication, and payment flows
• Own production service reliability, including observability, alerting, safe rollouts, and incident response
• Build internal tools for investigation, enforcement, and auditability
• Partner with fraud analysts to turn emerging abuse patterns into production detections

• 5+ Years building and operating high-throughput, latency-sensitive backend systems in production
• Strong systems programming skills
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, Terraform, and cloud infrastructure
• Solid data fundamentals, including stream and batch computations, caching, and storage trade-offs
• A pragmatic, ownership-driven approach: ship incrementally, measure, and ensure failures degrade safely
