Play an active role in hiring, mentoring, and career development of other engineers
Raise technical standards for performance, reliability, and operational excellence
Identify areas where machine learning can create value for customers
Frame product problems as machine learning problems in collaboration with teammates and Product and Design stakeholders
Conduct exploratory data analysis and research to understand problem areas
Research and identify appropriate algorithms and tools, balancing pragmatism with innovation
Perform offline evaluations to gather evidence that algorithms will work
Work with engineers to bring prototypes into production
Plan, measure, and share learnings to inform iteration
Partner with the team and other stakeholders to build excellent machine learning products

5–8 Years of applied machine learning experience
Previous background in a senior or staff role in data science, software development, or academia
Demonstrated significant impact on products and/or teams
Strong programming skills
Experience as the primary technical leader for a team
Strong communication skills within engineering teams and across disciplines
Comfort with ambiguity
Typically, advanced education in machine learning or a related field, such as an MSc
Scientific thinking skills
