Data engineer in power grid operations

Getting a grip on the data topic — At 50Hertz, I am shaping the Next Generation Control Center ecosystem for a successful digital energy transition. In this role, together with other data experts, I ensure the continuous development of our data integration processes. This includes designing, implementing and maintaining (partly) automated data flows to supply our core processes with consistent, high-quality data. With my expertise, I contribute to developing a unified data strategy and optimize the data landscape for a secure power grid of tomorrow.

• Creation, further development and (operational) quality assurance of (data) products in the context of congestion management (Redispatch 2.0), at the interface with forecast and planning data management
• Participation in specialist committees and working groups (TSOs, DSOs and BDEW) to further develop data delivery processes at the interfaces between grid operators and the market
• Recording, prioritization and support for the implementation of data requirements
• Concept development and implementation of data exchange and integration processes together with system operation subject matter experts, at the interface with the distribution system operator and entities responsible for deployment

• Completed degree related to information technology, electrical engineering, energy economics or a comparable field
• Ability to abstract in order to translate technical (electrical engineering) requirements into data needs and processes
• Programming skills (e.g. Python, SQL) and familiarity with common data formats (e.g. XML, JSON, CSV) and communication protocols
• Language skills: Business-fluent German (C1 level) and fluent English (B2 level), spoken and written
• Будет плюсом: Previous experience in a regulated company, ideally with a grid operator; Previous experience working in specialist committees, ideally in the context of grid operation or the electricity market; Experience with ELT/ETL frameworks; Knowledge of the following topics: asset master data, forecast and planning data, sensitivities, dispatch documents and grid models in the context of Redispatch dimensioning, dispatch and balancing involving conventional power plants, renewable energy installations and battery energy storage systems; Experience with the Common Information Model (CIM) in the Common Grid Model Exchange Standard (CGMES), as well as Network Code Profiles (NCP) and UCTE data formats
